Reminder: Spring Curbside Chipping and Compost Services

The City's Department of Public Works (DPW) is currently providing curbside chipping and composing  services of neatly stacked branches for Rochester residents.  The DPW will accept branches up to 8” in diameter that are placed on the easement between the sidewalk and the curb. Sticks/branches that are left at the curb for chipping/compost pick up must also meet the following requirements:

- Length of branches must be 4 feet or less

- Bundles must be tied and secure

- Bundles must be less than 60lbs in weight

Any other yard waste will not be accepted by the DPW for chipping/composting, and should be placed in brown paper bags or cans clearly marked yard waste and/or compost to be collected by Green For Life Environmental Services (GFL) on your regularly scheduled pick up day. Yard waste placed in plastic bags or cans that are not clearly marked will not be picked up by Green for Life Environmental Services. Please have everything out to the curb by 7 a.m.

Stickers used to designate yard waste receptacles can be picked up at the Rochester City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please contact the Rochester Department of Public Works at (248) 651-5165, or visit rochestermi.org/publicworks.
