Marilyn Trent has been committed to community service in Downtown Rochester since 2007 when she was appointed to the Downtown Development Authority of Rochester and founded the Green City Committee.
In 2019 she founded the Rochester Pollinators as a committee of the City Beautiful Commission to help save the Monarch butterfly and native pollinators in the region. The committee has grown to have over 100 volunteers, hundreds of pollinator gardens planted, over 1,200 subscribers to the bi-monthly newsletter, and over 1,700 Facebook followers.
She has made a living as the owner of a design agency, Trent Creative, with offices in Rochester and Detroit, for three decades. She has two grown daughters acting as a catalyst for positive social and ecological change in her community. Her favorite title, after Mom, is the Butterfly Lady.
She is currently serving on the City Council of Rochester until November 2023 and is the Past Chair of the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce. She is presently an Advisory for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. She is also the Conservation Chair of the Daughters of the American Revolution Stoney Creek Chapter, Flagstar Strand Advisory Committee, and North Oakland Wild One’s PR Committee Chair.
